Overview

The Class C307 was built to replace ageing and nonstandard trains in Limaru and the Shafterlands. Due to increasing urbanisation of the Greater Fresbury area, once-rural areas that use D class trains (trains with odd loading gauges or odd door formats) now need to have a standardised door format, which means repositioning doors and/or buying new trains. However, the D class trains that the C307 replaced were all too short for the standardised door format, which means buying new trains was the only real option. Consolidating demands for new trains in Limaru, an order for 8 batches of new trains was placed with Limaru Electric Engineering Corporation Limited after an auction for the contract.

Design

Every subclass of the Class C307 is identical, with differences only in the livery, seating arrangements, and the number of cars, ranging from 3 to 9 cars.

NOTE: c refers to slant cabs while s refers to straight cabs

All trains have two 62-inch-wide doors per side per car and single arm pantographs, and were built between 2021 and 2022. The prototype set, 307102-307201-307101-307202, is rolled out with the rest of subclass C307/1.

Seats in (brackets) denote transverse seats on both sides of the train. Seats in [square brackets] denote transverse seats on one side of the train. Seats in {curly brackets} denote retractable seats that are pulled into the ceiling during peak hours to allow for more doors to open.

All trains come with separate accelerate and brake handles.

Operation

Since this class of train is built in Limaru, most sets operate within Limaru. However, some sets have been exported to the greater Fresbury region to replace ageing out-of-gauge trains. Unlike most trains used in the Shafterlands, the C307 is built using completely new components sourced locally in Limaru.

Cab Design

The Class C307 is one of the rare trains in Limaru to feature a slant cab. Like its predecessor, the Class C29, the slant cab of the Class C307 makes it look sleeker. However, this cab design also contributed to the oddity that cab cars are slightly longer than non-cab cars, prompting EndeRails to also design a straight cab to fit in the middle of trains.

Longer Cars

In July 2022, Emmaru Railways proposed the creation of longer cars by joining two carriages together to form a super long car and to increase capacity. Previously, the C307 looked like Copenhagen S-tog trains, but without gangways. This rebuild will enable first class seating to be possible on the C307 but limit its usage on tracks with high curve radii.

EndeRails started rebuilding the Limarusian C307 units in this new format, but kept to the shorter carriages on the Shafterlandean units due to curve constraints. Numbers on the train are also updated, with all Limarusian trains in the 3077xx and 3078xx series.

All Limarusian sets are also revised as Mc-Msp, with some sets on the Hanon Line and mainlines being Mc-Mcp instead. The bogie at the front of the Mc carriage is not powered.
