Krepian Phrasebook

From Limaru City Server Wiki

Krepian (Krepian: Kreépian) is an official constructed language in Limaru, spoken by the Krepian minority. It sees greater use within the Krepian states of the Shafterlands, Carren, Crepetown, Monabat and Laifavik. While most people in these nations can speak either English or French due to colonial influence, Krepian remains a great part of daily life due to media influence from the Shafterlands, such as the rise of Tokidawan animation.

Pronunciation guide

Krepian is written in the Krepian script, an alphabet made up of 13 letters and many diacritics. While the number of diacritics used may shock you at first, as common sounds may also require one, diacritics have been largely optional since the language reform of 1946.

As it is very difficult to type in Krepian, this phrasebook will introduce you to the two main romanisation systems of Krepian, namely the German Romanisation (and its common dialects) and the Canakan (also sometimes called French) romanisation. The Canakan romanisation of Krepian is the official script used in Canako in place of the standard Krepian alphabet due to early Christian missionaries promoting the use of the Latin alphabet in the 13th and 14th centuries. However, the Canakan romanisation results in absurdly long words when tones are mandatory due to its use of tone spelling. To keep things short, phrases in this phrasebook will be written in the standard OIPK (Organisazon Internasonaler iPasarins Krepian) German romanisation instead.
