YJJ City - Mainland Limaru Bridge

From Limaru City Server Wiki

The YJJ City – Mainland Limaru Bridge is a 1.085-kilometre (0.67 mi) bridge connecting Sea's End in YJJ City and Land's End in Mainland Limaru. The layout of the bridge consists of a 4-track railway on the top deck and a 2-lane motorway on the bottom deck.

Conception

Soon after the merger between YJJ City and Limaru, the idea of having a bridge connecting YJJ City island to mainland Limaru was conceptualized by leaders on both sides. It was quickly agreed upon that the location of the bridge would be built from the western end of mainland Limaru where Land's End station of the Tozai Line was located, to what is today known as Sea's End in YJJ City island.

Design

During the planning stage of the project, a design competition was launched to allow members of the community to create various designs for the bridge. Among the designs, a cable-suspension bridge design inspired by the Golden Gate Bridge in San Franciso was chosen as the winner.

The bridge consists of 7 towers spaced 154 metres apart and has 2 decks. The top deck consists of 4 railway lines – the outer 2 tracks being allocated to link mainland Limaru's Tozai Line to YJJ City's East-West Line, and the inner 2 tracks being allocated for mainline trains. The lower deck consists of a 2-lane bi-directional motorway linking Limaru's road network to the Northern Highway in YJJ City. The motorway also includes an additional reversible lane which can be adjusted to account for increased traffic flows from either direction.
